How to get an H&M receipt

If you are an H&M member, your digital receipts from store and online purchases appear in your account within 45 minutes, and all receipts and order confirmations sit under My account. Store returns and exchanges need the receipt or e-receipt and your original payment method, within 30 days. Membership is free from age 16.

Digital receipt lookup in your H&M account

  1. Sign in on hm.com or in the H&M app.
  2. Open My account.
  3. Find the receipt or order confirmation you need.

A store purchase only shows up if you scanned your member ID at the register. Forgot? Bring the paper receipt back to a store with your member number from the app, or contact customer service, to register the purchase and its points.

Store returns and exchanges

  • Bring the items, the receipt or e-receipt, and the payment method you used.
  • Items must be resellable with tags attached.
  • Store purchases can only be returned in a store, never by mail.
  • H&M HOME items bought in a store go back to a store that carries H&M HOME.
  • Purchases made in Puerto Rico can only be returned in Puerto Rico.

Exchanges follow the same 30 days and paperwork. Special collections, designer collaborations and some promotional items can have different conditions, announced at purchase.

Online orders: store drop-off or a $5.99 mail return

Most online purchases can be returned free at any US H&M store. H&M HOME, furniture and damaged online orders go back by mail only, and mail returns cost $5.99, deducted from the refund. Online exchanges are not offered. The delivery fee is refunded only when you return the entire order.

Refunds onto an H&M Merchandise Card

Purchases paid with an H&M gift card or e-gift card are refunded on an H&M Merchandise Card sent to the order's email address. Mixed payments refund the other method first, with any remainder on a Merchandise Card. Most refunds are processed within 14 days of H&M receiving the return.

H&M receipts for uniforms and shoots

Basics bought for a crew's uniform or a photo shoot are a business expense, and the app receipt only exists if someone scanned a member ID.
