How to get a Staples receipt

Staples.com keeps your receipts. Online orders from the last 24 months have a Receipt in Purchase History that you can print or download. In-store purchases made with your Staples Easy Rewards account appear under the In-store tab. Without Easy Rewards, bring the credit or debit card you paid with to the same store within 12 months, and staff can look up the receipt. This guide covers Staples in the US.
Receipts for Staples.com orders
- Sign in to your Staples.com or Easy Rewards account.
- Select the Orders icon, then Purchase History.
- Select Receipt in the grey bar to the right of the order number.
- Review, print or download the Transaction Summary.
Staples updates this receipt as charges and refunds are applied to your payment methods. The same page lets you return, cancel, track or reorder.
One order, several charges
When an item ships from a vendor or from a farther delivery center, Staples charges each shipment separately, and each one appears as its own transaction on your card statement. The receipt PDF is the reconciling document: it lists every shipment with its individual total.
Store receipts online and at the counter
With Easy Rewards, a store purchase shows online with the purchase date, transaction number, item number, description, price and a bar code for returns. Open Purchase History, choose the In-store tab, and select the transaction starting with POS. The tab lists purchases made with your digital Easy Rewards card from the app or the phone number on your profile.
Paid by card without Easy Rewards? Take that card to the store where you bought within 12 months and ask them to look the receipt up.
Returns with and without a receipt
Staples asks for the receipt or packing slip on returns, and in-store purchases must go back to a store. Without a receipt, an in-store purchase gets in-store credit only, at the lowest selling price of the last 30 days, with a valid government-issued ID. Windows vary by product: office supplies at any time, technology, small appliances and furniture within 14 days, unopened software within 30.
Tax-exempt buyers and larger businesses
Exempt organizations send their documents to taxexempt@staples.com or by fax to 877-326-8557 to get a Staples tax exempt customer number, then add it on the Tax Exempt Number tile of their account profile. Checkout only estimates the tax: Staples tells you to rely on the order confirmation email for the actual amount. Businesses that want specialized pricing and account management are pointed to StaplesBusiness.com.
Staples receipts saved without the store trip
Staples already holds two years of order receipts and your Easy Rewards store purchases online. Connect your Staples.com account and our AI agent signs in to Purchase History and saves each receipt, through bill fetching. Order confirmation emails are filed by email receipt capture, and a cash register slip goes into the Smartbills app as a photo.
