Giant Tiger refunds a purchase when you present the sales receipt or the online order confirmation, and its guarantee has no time limit. Without a receipt, the store can give you an in-store Giant Tiger gift card for the product's current value, which may differ from what you paid. That card only works at the store that issued it, you need to identify yourself, and each customer gets at most three no-receipt returns a year.
What counts as a receipt
- For store purchases: the sales receipt, with the item in its original packaging.
- For online orders: the confirmation email or the packing slip that came with the shipment.
Online orders are listed in your account under My Account, then My Orders, which is where you check status. Bring an online item to a store without the email or slip and Giant Tiger offers merchandise credit on an in-store gift card instead, once the item is confirmed as its merchandise.
Returning an online order
Taking it to a store is the fastest refund. Items over 45 kg can't go back to a store; for those, contact Customer Service. To ship a return to the warehouse, Customer Service sends a prepaid label, and the refund is processed within 7 to 10 business days of the item arriving. Store purchases and store pickup orders can't use the warehouse route. Online orders can't be exchanged either: return the item and place a new order. Refunds include the price you paid after discounts, shipping costs and applicable sales tax.
Final sale items
Tobacco, alcohol, lottery tickets, mattresses, gift cards and most undergarments can't be returned. Bras and swim tops are refundable, and defective masks can be exchanged.
Limits on frequent returns
Giant Tiger can limit or refuse returns, restrict purchases or close accounts if return activity looks excessive. Those measures apply to future transactions only, but they are one more reason to keep the receipt rather than rely on a no-receipt return.
Giant Tiger receipts with no expiry
A no-time-limit guarantee is only useful if the receipt survives. Order confirmation emails are filed by email receipt capture the moment they arrive, and store slips can be photographed with the receipt scanner. Cleaning supplies or snacks bought for the office then land in expense reports.
