You can return to Ross without a receipt if you show a valid picture ID, but the refund comes as store credit or an exchange at the item's current selling price, not money back. When that credit is over $50, Ross mails a store credit voucher within 21 days of the return. Ross's system also limits how many no-receipt refunds you can make, and some merchandise categories can't come back without a receipt at all.
The register receipt is the only one
Ross doesn't sell online: its contact page states that merchandise cannot be purchased online. There is no order history or emailed confirmation to fall back on, and the Ross contact and policy page doesn't describe e-receipts or a receipt lookup. The paper receipt from the register is your one record, and Ross asks you to keep and use it on every return and exchange.
With a receipt: 30 days for a full refund
- Within 30 days, the original receipt gets a full refund to your original payment. A card purchase goes back to the same card, which you must bring.
- After 30 days, a receipted return is exchanged or credited as store credit.
- Paid by check? A cash refund waits five days.
Used, worn or altered items aren't accepted, and swimwear and lingerie need the original ticket attached.
Without a receipt: ID, credit and a cap
A no-receipt return needs a valid picture ID and is subject to system verification, which can decline the refund. The number of no-receipt refunds the system allows is limited. For the categories excluded from no-receipt returns, Ross points you to the front of your receipt or to the cashier. Keep the original receipt for gift cards too.
Ross purchases for a business
Office decor, storage bins or a staff gift from Ross need the itemized receipt for an expense claim, and a card statement only shows the store and total. Since Ross has nothing to resend, the paper is all there is.
Ross receipts kept past the 30 days
Photograph the slip in the Smartbills receipt scanner on the way out of the store. You keep a copy for the expense claim, attach it to expense reports, and store business purchases with your tax receipts. Hold on to the paper as well, because a return at the register needs the original.
