Burlington accepts returns without a receipt when you show a photo ID, such as a driver's license, a state-issued non-driver ID, a passport or a military ID. You receive merchandise credit for the item's lowest selling price, not a refund to your card. With the original receipt, items go back within 30 days of purchase for a refund in the original form of payment.
Receipted returns within 30 days
Merchandise has to be new, unused, unwashed and in its original packaging. Refunds follow the payment you used: a check purchase is credited to the original account, and a debit card used with a PIN gets cash. Receipted returns after 30 days get merchandise credit, and returns after 60 days, receipt or not, get merchandise credit for the lowest selling price.
No receipt: ID and verification
Every Burlington return goes through a third-party verification process and system approval. Where the law allows, your ID details and return history are entered into that processor's system, and Burlington can limit or refuse any refund.
E-receipts for loyalty members
The Burlington Loyalty Program is free and open to U.S. residents, including Puerto Rico, who sign up at a participating store with a name, email address and phone number. Members can choose an e-receipt or a printed copy on any sale or return at participating locations, and the first transaction as a member brings both. Completed layaways don't get e-receipts. Members also get 45 days for returns, at select stores only.
The jewelry counter is stricter
Jewelry counter purchases need the original receipt dated within 30 days, or 45 days for loyalty members, and must go back to the store where you bought them. Home Removal Tags must still be attached, and every jewelry return requires a valid government-issued photo ID.
Burlington receipts kept for later
Loyalty members who pick e-receipts can let email receipt capture file each one as it lands, receipt and return slips alike. Paper copies take a photo in the receipt scanner. Uniforms, decor or supplies bought for work then flow into expense reports with the receipt attached.
