West Elm

West Elm keeps online orders in your order history: sign in from Track your order to see them, or search one by its order number. New orders can take up to 24 hours to show up. Hold on to that record, because West Elm accepts returns and exchanges only with an original receipt or a gift receipt.

Order history lookup on westelm.com

  1. Open Track your order from the top of any westelm.com page.
  2. Choose Sign in to view order history, or use the order search if you are not signed in.
  3. Open the order to see its items and delivery status.

Without the order number, West Elm's customer service at 1.888.922.4119 can help locate the order. Tracking becomes available about a day after the order is placed.

No receipt, no return at West Elm

West Elm's help topics put items without an original receipt or gift receipt first on the list of things it will not take back. Eligible items can be returned for a refund of the merchandise value within 30 days of receiving the order, or 7 days for Quick Ship upholstery. Also excluded:

  • monogrammed and personalized pieces
  • made to order items, custom rugs and custom furniture included
  • mattresses and gift cards
  • open box and final sale items, whose prices end in $.97

Returning in a store or through UPS

Most non-furniture items can go back to a local West Elm store for free, though West Elm outlet stores do not accept them. For a UPS drop-off, start the return online, say whether you bought the item or received it as a gift, and print the label. A label for a return started in the last 7 days can be printed again with the return reference number. Only items originally shipped to a US address qualify. Non-custom furniture and oversized pieces need a call to customer service.

The seller named on West Elm sales

West Elm's help pages state that sales are made by Williams-Sonoma DTC, Inc., and that orders shipped to Texas are sold by Williams-Sonoma DTC Texas, Inc. Expect that legal name, rather than "West Elm", when you match a card charge or check a vendor in your accounting software. Sales tax follows the delivery destination, and many states also tax the shipping and processing charges.

Trade and business purchases

Designers, hotels and companies buying through West Elm's business programs have a separate B2B order history page. Business gift and large orders go through 1.800.838.2589 or businessgifts@williams-sonomainc.com.

West Elm receipts for a studio or office fit-out

A sofa or a set of desk lamps for a new office is a capital purchase, and its receipt has to outlast the 30-day return window by years. Email receipt capture keeps each West Elm order confirmation as it lands. Bill fetching lets our AI agent sign in to westelm.com and pull every order from your history, and expense reports carry the Williams-Sonoma DTC name your bank statement shows.
