Michaels

Michaels requires proof of purchase for returns, but before refusing it tries a receipt look-up: purchases paid with a credit or debit card can be found, and so can online or store purchases tied to a Michaels Rewards number. A located receipt makes it a normal return. When nothing turns up, you show a valid photo ID and receive a Store Return Card or an exchange worth the item's lowest price sold in the previous 90 days.

Receipt look-up at the Michaels register

Bring the card you paid with, or give the phone number or account behind your Michaels Rewards membership. If the associate finds the transaction, the return follows the with-receipt rules: the full purchase amount within 60 days, to the original payment method. A packing slip or confirmation email also counts as the receipt for an online order.

When the look-up finds nothing

  • Accepted photo ID: a US, Canadian or Mexican driver's license, a US state ID, a Canadian provincial ID, a passport or a US military ID.
  • Michaels records the ID and keeps it in a secure database for refund authorization and fraud prevention.
  • The value is the lowest price the item sold for in the previous 90 days.
  • You leave with a Store Return Card, an exchange, or both.

Michaels.com order history and online returns

  1. Sign in to michaels.com and open Order History.
  2. Click View Details on the order.
  3. Under Need Help?, select Return.
  4. Tick the items, then give a reason and condition for each, with notes, photos or video if useful.

Online orders have two months (60 days) and can also go back to any store. Store purchases cannot be returned online. Marketplace and MakerPlace items follow each seller's policy and are not accepted in stores.

Products that need the original receipt

Cricut products come back only unopened and with a receipt. Glowforge machines and filters need a receipt, a sealed box and a return within 14 days. Clearance and cut fabric are final sale, opened trading cards count as damaged, and custom framing can be reworked at the same store within 14 days of pickup.

How Michaels pays refunds

Debit card purchases are refunded as cash. Anything paid with a gift card, or returned with a gift receipt, comes back on a Store Return Card. Check purchases wait 10 days, and PayPal purchases are refunded in cash up to $500. MichaelsPro business orders need a return authorization from 1-833-MIKEPRO and may carry restocking fees.

Michaels receipts for framing jobs and classroom supplies

The look-up only works while you still have the card and the 90-day low price is rarely what you paid. A teacher or a framer billing clients needs the receipt itself. Snap the Michaels slip in the Smartbills app at the register, let email receipt capture file michaels.com confirmations, and use bill fetching so our AI agent signs in and saves each order from your Order History.
