Booking.com

On Booking.com, the accommodation invoice doesn't come from Booking.com. Booking.com says it can provide receipts as proof of payment, but only the property can issue an invoice for your stay.

What the confirmation already shows

Booking.com for Business says that while it doesn't issue invoices, your booking confirmation holds a detailed price breakdown and a payment receipt. That covers proof of payment. It still isn't the property's invoice.

Stays

Ask the property for the invoice, at check-out or by message through Booking.com, and you can ask at any time. With a Booking.com for Business account, find the booking under Bookings & trips, choose Request invoice and message the property, which emails the invoice.

The Easy invoice label

When you search for accommodation, Booking.com for Business shows an Easy invoice label on properties that are reliable for providing tax invoices, and an Easy invoice filter that shows only those. For a work trip, filtering before you book saves chasing the invoice afterwards.

What properties are told to include

Booking.com's partner help tells properties that each reservation is an agreement between the property and the guest, and that they must provide the invoice at check-out, even when the payment went through Payments by Booking.com. The invoice should carry the property and guest details, the check-in and check-out dates, the total with a breakdown of rates, taxes and fees, an invoice number, the date of issue and the payment method. Booking.com isn't supposed to appear on it as the seller.

Flights

For a flight booked on Booking.com, download the proof of payment from the flight confirmation page or from Bookings & Trips in your account. For a flight within the U.S. with JetBlue, Booking.com for Business says to request the invoice by calling the airline.

Car rentals

For a car rental, open Manage booking and choose Receipt, or contact customer service.

Booking.com stays on your expense report

The booking confirmation and the invoice the property emails are both picked up by email receipt capture, with GST, HST, QST or lodging tax read on separate lines. When the property hands the invoice over at the desk instead, photograph it in the Smartbills app. The stay then goes onto your expense report with the rest of the trip.
