To get a Thrifty receipt, open Thrifty's Request a Receipt page, enter the renter's last name, and search with either the driver's license or the credit card used for the rental. It can take up to 7 days after you return the car for the receipt to show up, and it stays online for 6 months.
Requesting the receipt
- On thrifty.com, open Receipts.
- Choose your country of residence and enter your last name.
- Tick Search Using A Driver's License and enter the issuing state or province and the number, or tick Search Using A Credit Card and enter the card type and number.
- Select Search.
If you fill in both the license and the card, Thrifty only shows receipts that match both. Start with one.
Too many results
The search shows at most 20 receipts. Frequent renters can use the optional fields to narrow it: an approximate pick-up date range, or the rental record number from the agreement.
Rentals the page will not find
- Rentals returned less than 7 days ago.
- Rentals returned more than 6 months ago.
- Rentals paid with a company Hertz Charge Card, which may need the driver's license to be found.
- Rentals in Tasmania, Australia, which can only be found by driver's license.
- Rentals in New Zealand, which are not available online at all.
For anything the page cannot find after 7 days, Thrifty asks you to email reservationinquiries@thrifty.com.
Six months goes fast
Six months is shorter than most rental companies allow, and shorter than a tax year. Save the receipt as soon as it appears rather than waiting for the quarterly expense run.
Thrifty receipts kept before they expire
With a 7-day wait at one end and a 6-month cutoff at the other, Thrifty receipts are easy to lose. Connect your Thrifty account and our AI agent runs the lookup after each rental and saves the receipt as soon as it posts, through bill fetching. Receipts emailed to you are filed by email receipt capture, and the rental lands on the trip's expense report.
