PartsAvatar is a Canadian online parts store. There's no counter receipt: your order confirmation email is the record of the purchase, and it's also what a manufacturer accepts as proof for a warranty claim.
Your proof of purchase
PartsAvatar's warranty policy says that if a manufacturer asks for an invoice or proof of purchase, you can send your order confirmation email. You can also contact PartsAvatar for the documents. Keep that email for as long as the part's warranty.
How the warranty works
Warranties come from the manufacturers and vary by product. PartsAvatar assists with claims for up to 12 months from the date of purchase; after that, you claim directly with the manufacturer. Oil and other consumables, and normal wear and tear, aren't covered.
Making a claim
- Order a new part to replace the defective one.
- Install the new part and keep its box.
- Contact PartsAvatar at returns@partsavatar.ca or by live chat to open a return and get an RMA number for the original order.
- Pack the defective part in the new part's box and ship it to PartsAvatar's Mississauga warehouse, at your cost.
- Once it's inspected, the defective part is refunded within 2 working days of arrival.
Returns that aren't warranty claims
New or unused items can be returned within 30 days of delivery in their original packaging, with exceptions such as electrical components once opened or installed. Check the return policy before ordering anything you might send back.
Keeping the PartsAvatar email past the first year
PartsAvatar helps with claims for 12 months, and a manufacturer's warranty can run longer than that. Email receipt capture files the order confirmation when it arrives, with each part and tax line, and keeps it easy to find when a manufacturer asks for proof. Paper receipts from a local store for the same repair can go in through the Smartbills app.
