For anything bought on academy.com or in the Academy app, the online receipt is your receipt: view it in My Account on the website, or open the Order Status section of the app for a copy. For a store purchase without a receipt, Academy tries to verify the sale if you paid by credit or debit card. A verified purchase is refunded to the original payment, and an unverified one earns merchandise credit at the lowest price of the past 90 days.
Online receipt lookup
- Website: sign in and open My Account to view or print the online receipt.
- App: the Order Status section holds a copy of each order's receipt.
If you cannot find an online receipt, Academy says it will help you obtain a copy at the store before falling back to credit.
Card verification for store purchases
Bring the card you paid with. If Academy finds the sale, you get your money back on that card or an even exchange. If it cannot, you get merchandise credit equal to the item's lowest price sold within the past 90 days, sales and clearance prices at any Academy store included. Government-issued photo ID is required either way, and Academy may limit returns even with a receipt.
How Academy pays you back
- Cash refunds require the original purchase receipt.
- Gift card and merchandise credit card purchases come back as merchandise credit.
- A gift receipt gets merchandise credit or an even exchange.
- Bread Pay refunds go to the loans for that order, and Apple Pay, Klarna or Sezzle refunds may land on a different method, leaving the original balance owed.
Mailing back an academy.com order
Print the online receipt from My Account, fill in what it asks, put it in the box and ship to the Academy Returns Center in Katy, Texas. Return instructions are at the bottom of that document. Orders picked up in a store cannot go back by mail, and bulky items need Customer Care.
Items with restricted returns
Most unused items have 60 days. Firearms and ammunition, bows, knives, boats and trailers, fuel-powered gear, bats, golf clubs, fishing rods and reels, electronics, e-bikes, scooters, bikes, trading cards and gift cards all carry restrictions or exclusions.
Academy receipts for hunting leases, camps and teams
