How to get a WestJet receipt

WestJet Rewards members

Sign in to your WestJet Rewards account to get electronic ticket receipts for completed flights. Four conditions apply: the booking was made on westjet.com or through WestJet's contact centre, you were a member at the time, your Rewards ID was on the booking, and the flight was completed in the last 13 months.

Not a member, or cannot sign in

1. Use WestJet's itinerary and receipt tool within 3 days after your last flight.
2. Enter the first name, last name and email address exactly as they were used on the booking.

After 3 days, WestJet cannot provide a receipt online or through its contact centre. Search your inbox for the checkout email from noreply@itinerary.westjet.com. If your itinerary shows the price and payment details, keep it: it is your only receipt. If it does not, it links to an eTicket that shows that information for up to seven days after the last flight.

Taxes on the receipt

WestJet collects GST, HST or QST on flights and services provided in Canada. Travel that starts in the United States, or that has an international origin or destination, generally does not carry them. A domestic price summary lists the base fare, the air travellers security charge, the HST and the airport improvement fee on separate lines, which is what an input tax credit needs.

Seats, bags and timing

• Paid seats and bags appear in the other charges section of the itinerary receipt.
• Receipts are usually available 3 to 10 business days after the flight.
• Paid with Apple Pay or Google Pay? Contact WestJet with the last four digits of the payment method, the amount, the flight details and your reservation code.

Inflight food and Wi-Fi

For food and drinks, use WestJet's Find my receipt portal. Wi-Fi receipts are emailed by the Wi-Fi provider to the address you signed in with.

When WestJet cannot issue one

Bookings made on other travel sites, through a travel agent or with AIR MILES are handled by whoever sold them. For WestJet Vacations, look for the itinerary and receipt in the checkout email.

Beating WestJet's 3-day window

The 3-day rule is short enough that a receipt you mean to download later is often gone, which makes the checkout email the record to protect. Email receipt capture picks up each noreply@itinerary.westjet.com message as it arrives and reads the fare, taxes and other charges, ready for a GST/HST claim.
