Sunoco keeps digital receipts in the Sunoco app, but only for transactions completed using the app. Pay at the pump through the app and the receipt is stored on your phone. Swipe a card at the pump instead and the printed receipt is the only copy.
Paying at the pump in the app
At a participating station, open the Sunoco app and choose to pay at the pump or inside. At the pump, select the pump number and the payment method on the app screen. Mastercard, Visa, American Express and debit cards can be linked; prepaid credit cards are not supported. Each station sets its own limit of 1 to 3 pay-at-the-pump transactions per day.
Go Rewards discount
Go Rewards is a free app-based program giving 3 cents off per gallon on every fuel-up through the app, with no monthly limit on fill-ups. Each discounted fuel-up is capped at 35 gallons; past that, the pump shuts off and a new transaction is needed. Swiping a credit card at the pump does not redeem the discount.
Sunoco Pay from a checking account
Sunoco Pay links a checking account in the app. Sunoco's FAQ lists a 10 cents per gallon extra discount on top of Go Rewards, 13 cents in total, with no gallon cap but a $125 fuel limit per transaction.
Receipt lookup for older fill-ups
The app's receipt list only holds purchases made through the app. Sunoco's FAQ is explicit that other purchase receipts cannot be found there. If you paid in cash or swiped a card, keep the paper slip.
Sunoco Rewards credit card savings
If you pay with the Sunoco Rewards credit card, its everyday savings appear on your receipt, while Go Rewards savings appear at the pump. A business owner reconciling fuel costs should record the amount on the receipt, after both discounts.
Sunoco receipts captured either way
For app purchases, forward a copy of the digital receipt to your inbox and our email receipt capture files it. For swiped cards, a photo in the receipt scanner reads the gallons and price. Drivers then add the fill-up to an expense report.
