How to get a Shred-it invoice
Founder & CEO, Smartbills

Shred-it keeps current and past invoices in its Customer Portal. Log in at mystericycle.com with your email and customer number, then choose MY BILLING from the dashboard menu to view and download invoices, pay bills and set up AutoPay. Invoices are also sent by email or post, with email preferred.
Invoice lookup in MY BILLING
MY BILLING holds copies of all past invoices, not only the latest. The portal is free for Shred-it customers and also handles service: MANAGE SERVICE on the dashboard, then ADD NEW SERVICE, books or reschedules a shred. Shred-it's pages also refer to it as the MyShred-it Portal; the login address is mystericycle.com, after Shred-it's parent company, Stericycle.
Billing cycles
Shred-it bills on one of five cycles: the 3rd, 10th, 18th or 25th of the month, or the end of the month. If an invoice seems to arrive at an odd time, the cycle on your account is the reason.
Single-site or consolidated billing
- Single site billing: one service location per invoice PDF.
- Consolidated billing: several locations on one invoice PDF.
Invoices come as PDF, or as PDF plus Excel, the format usually chosen for consolidated invoices. Uploading invoices to a customer's own third-party portal is not offered as standard but can be arranged at extra cost.
Paying and AutoPay
Pay from MY BILLING in the portal. AutoPay is set up in the same place, and Shred-it says the portal lets you manage most of the account, including automatic payments. An AutoPay account still receives an invoice each cycle; keep the invoice, not the bank line, as your record.
The Certificate of Destruction
At the end of each shredding service, Shred-it provides a Certificate of Destruction that confirms the date of service. It is a separate document from the invoice. Auditors asking about document disposal want the certificate; your accountant wants the invoice.
Shred-it invoices matched to each pickup
With bill fetching, our AI agent logs in to the Shred-it Customer Portal after each billing cycle, downloads the invoice from MY BILLING and files it. Invoices sent to your inbox are read by email receipt capture, and shredding costs for each location appear in reports without a spreadsheet.
