How to find a Target receipt (online and in-store)

To find a Target receipt, open Purchase history in the Target app or on Target.com. Online orders stay there for about two years, and store purchases for about one year when you scanned your Wallet, paid with a saved card or entered your Target Circle number. Receipts appear within a few hours of the purchase.
Target.com orders
Receipts for online orders stay available for up to about two years.
- In the app: open the Account tab, select Purchase history, choose the order, then Receipts and View.
- On Target.com: sign in, select Purchase History, then View order and Receipts and invoices. Choose Print receipts, or View detailed invoices for a fuller transaction record.
Purchases made in a Target store
In-store purchase details stay available for up to about one year, and only appear in your account if one of these happened at the register:
- Your Wallet barcode from the Target app was scanned.
- You paid with a card saved to your Target account.
- You entered your Target Circle phone number.
In the app they are in Purchase history. On Target.com, go to Orders and switch to In-store.
Cash, checks and gift cards
Purchases paid with a Target GiftCard that is not linked to your Wallet, with a check or with cash do not appear unless you scanned your Wallet or entered your Target Circle phone number at checkout. If you often pay cash, scanning the Wallet is the habit that saves you.
If a store purchase is missing
Add the card you paid with to your account (under Payment cards in the app, or Payment on Target.com), then check the in-store view again.
What Guest Services can do
At the register you can ask for a standard or gift receipt. Later, Guest Services can try to look up a store or online purchase for you. Bring the item and the payment method you used. The lookup works for Target Circle Cards and for Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover cards.
Target Plus partner items
Items sold by Target Plus partners are handled differently. Their receipts are emailed when the order ships and again when it is delivered, and a return needs that proof of purchase.
Returning to Target without a receipt
You may have a receipt without knowing it. Online orders, and store purchases paid with a card linked to your Target account or your Wallet in the Target app, have a return barcode in your account. Otherwise, bring the item and the card you paid with to Guest Services. The store can look up purchases made with a Target Circle Card, or with a Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover credit card.
With no proof of purchase at all, Target refunds you on a merchandise return card. Getting one requires a government-issued ID. The card only works in Target stores, not on Target.com and not for cash, and its funds do not expire. Items sold by Target Plus partners always need a proof of purchase.
Target receipts that arrive by themselves
Target's order and Target Plus receipts come by email, which means email receipt capture can file them from your inbox as they arrive. For store trips, the receipts already sit in Purchase history when you scan your Wallet, which means our AI agent can sign in to your Target account and fetch them with bill fetching instead of you printing each one. And for the odd cash purchase with nothing linked, photograph the slip in the Smartbills app.
