Best Buy

Best Buy can find most receipts, online or in store, as long as the purchase is tied to a card or a My Best Buy membership.

Printing from your account

Sign in on BestBuy.com and open your orders from the Account overview. Open the order to print a standard receipt or a gift receipt. Store purchases show online when your My Best Buy membership ID is linked to your BestBuy.com account.

Guest online orders can be looked up with the order number from the confirmation email, the last name and the phone number used on the order.

The final tax is on the confirmation

At checkout, the order total shows estimated sales tax. The final tax charged is on the order confirmation email. Keep that email, or the receipt from your account, rather than a screenshot of checkout.

Copies of a store receipt

  • Go to the customer service counter. If you paid by card, bring the card and they can look up the receipt with it.
  • My Best Buy members can also be looked up by phone number, email address or member ID.
  • Or call Best Buy to request a copy of a store receipt.

When Best Buy cannot find it

Copies cannot be retrieved for purchases paid in cash or by check if you are not a My Best Buy member, or for purchases made more than ten years ago.

Tax-exempt business buyers

Organizations exempt from sales tax join Best Buy's Tax Exempt Customer Program with a My Best Buy or Best Buy Business account and a valid exemption certificate. Resellers and schools need a business account first. At checkout, your tax-exempt account number appears in the Order Summary. Forgot to use it? You have 30 days to email Best Buy's tax refunds team for the tax back. An expired exemption means tax is charged.

Returning to Best Buy without a receipt

Best Buy's return policy does not publish a rule for returns without a receipt. What it asks you to bring is the receipt or packing slip and the card you paid with. Get a copy first: online orders and purchases linked to your My Best Buy account are in your order history, and Best Buy can retrieve copies of most store receipts.

The return period starts the day you receive the product and depends on your membership. The policy page lists the current periods, and activatable devices such as phones have a shorter one.

Best Buy receipts handled for work purchases

A laptop or monitor bought for work is often an asset, and the receipt supports both the claim and the warranty. Best Buy's confirmation email carries the final tax, which makes it the right document for email receipt capture to pick up from your inbox. For store purchases linked to your membership, connect your Best Buy account and our AI agent signs in and saves each receipt from your orders through bill fetching. A cash purchase with nothing linked? Photograph the slip in the Smartbills app before you leave the store.
