AutoZone handles warranties a little differently from a plain receipt. According to its terms, when you buy a covered part your warranty information is entered automatically into AutoZone's national warranty database, and a warranted part can be returned to any AutoZone store.
How long parts are covered
Coverage varies with each part. Many Duralast parts carry a Limited-Lifetime Warranty, shown on the product page and on the receipt. For a battery, the warranty runs to the end of the period printed on your receipt and expires when you sell or transfer the vehicle. To check a specific part, look it up by part number on AutoZone's site or read the receipt.
Lost receipt: what AutoZone can look up
Because warranty information is recorded at purchase, ask the store or call AutoZone Customer Support at 800.288.6966 with the date, the store and the part. AutoZone also reserves the right to limit returns and exchanges regardless of receipt. That leaves the receipt as your strongest proof. Keep it, or photograph it at the counter.
Parts as business expenses
For an expense claim or a sales tax credit, the itemized receipt shows the part, the date and the tax. A card statement shows only the total.
Keeping the battery receipt readable
An AutoZone battery warranty ends on the date printed on the receipt, and a slip left in a glovebox can be blank by then. Photograph it in the Smartbills app at the store: part, price, tax and date are kept together for a future claim. AutoZone orders confirmed by email are picked up by email receipt capture.
