How to get a receipt or invoice from Amazon

Amazon

To get an Amazon receipt, open Your Orders, find the order and select Invoice, then print it or save it as a PDF. In the app, open the order and choose Download invoice. The invoice, not the confirmation email, is what an expense report or a tax claim needs, and it appears once the order has shipped.

Printing it from the website

  1. Sign in and open Returns & Orders (also labelled Your Orders).
  2. Find the order. Change the date filter at the top if it is older than the default range.
  3. Select Invoice next to the order number, then choose the printable invoice.
  4. Use your browser's print dialog and pick Save as PDF to keep a file instead of paper.

Downloading it in the Amazon app

  1. Tap the profile icon, then Your Orders.
  2. Open the order and scroll to Order info.
  3. Choose Download invoice. The app saves a PDF you can share or print.

Why you cannot fix an invoice later

Once an order has shipped, Amazon does not let you change the invoice. That covers the delivery details and, where it applies, a VAT or business tax number. If the invoice needs your company name or a tax number, set that up before you place the order, not after.

Amazon Business accounts

On an Amazon Business account, invoices appear about 24 hours after the order ships, under Your Orders and the Invoice link beside each order. Who can see them depends on the role:

  • A requisitioner sees invoices only for the orders they placed.
  • Group administrators and finance users can download invoices for orders in their groups.
  • Account administrators can see invoices for every order on the account.

If your bookkeeper cannot find an invoice, check their role before assuming it is missing.

Finding an older order

The order list opens on recent months. Use the year filter to go back further, or search your orders by product name. If you have more than one Amazon account (a personal one and a business one, for example), check that you are signed in to the one that placed the order.

Items from other sellers

An item sold by a third-party seller is invoiced by that seller. If no invoice appears on the order, look for a Request invoice option, or contact the seller from the order page. Amazon can only show what the seller uploaded.

What a Canadian business needs on it

For a business purchase, keep the invoice rather than the order confirmation. Under CRA rules, a purchase of $100 or more needs the supplier's GST/HST registration number on the document to support an input tax credit, and $500 or more also needs your name and a description of what you bought. Amazon's invoice carries the seller's registration number when the seller is registered.

Getting Amazon invoices without the monthly hunt

Amazon sends an email for every order, but the email is not the invoice, which is why month-end turns into a hunt through Your Orders. Two things take that job off your hands. Email receipt capture watches the Gmail, Outlook or Zoho inbox your Amazon account uses and files each order as it arrives, with the merchant, date and total read off. For the invoice itself, connect your Amazon account to Smartbills and our AI agent signs in, downloads the invoice once the order ships and attaches it to the purchase. Bill fetching handles the logging in. A business account with dozens of orders a month no longer means dozens of downloads.

Frequently asked questions

No. Amazon makes the invoice available once the order has shipped. On Amazon Business, allow about 24 hours after shipping. Until then you only have the order confirmation.

It confirms the order and the amount, but it is not an invoice. For expenses and tax claims, download the invoice from Your Orders.

Requisitioners only see invoices for orders they placed. Group administrators, finance users and account administrators see more.
