How to get a Hotjar invoice

What the Invoices page does

• Lists every invoice as a PDF download.
• Holds Billing notifications, where you add the email addresses that receive future invoices as attachments.
• Holds Invoice details, the company name, address and VAT or GST number printed on future invoices.

To find the Account Owner, open Settings, Team.

One billing cycle per account

All sites in a Hotjar account renew on the same date, monthly or yearly, and are paid with one payment method. Each site's Observe and Ask plans are added up on the billing date. Mid-cycle upgrades are charged pro rata. If a client site needs its own invoice, Hotjar suggests a separate account with a different email.

VAT numbers

Customers in the EU, UK, Russia, Chile and Singapore need a valid VAT or GST number to avoid tax. Only the Account Owner can add it, from Invoice details. EU numbers must validate in the VIES system. If you add one after subscribing, Hotjar can only refund VAT on invoices not yet filed, which happens quarterly at the end of March, June, September and December.

Invoices now come from Contentsquare

On 1 July 2025, Hotjar merged into the Contentsquare Group. Invoices and card charges now carry a Contentsquare entity's name. North American customers are billed by Contentsquare Inc. and receive a W-9. Malta-based customers with a valid VAT number are no longer charged VAT. France-based customers are now charged VAT even with a valid number, because Contentsquare SAS is French. Bank transfer payers use the new Contentsquare bank details.

Hotjar invoices under the right supplier name

Add the address email receipt capture reads under Billing notifications and each Hotjar invoice is filed as a Contentsquare document, with the VAT treatment shown. For PDFs issued before the merger, our AI agent signs in as the Account Owner and downloads them with bill fetching. subscription tracking shows the combined Observe and Ask cost per renewal.
