How to download Azure invoices

Azure

Azure invoices are in the Azure portal under Cost Management + Billing. Where exactly, and who can see them, depends on your billing agreement.

Microsoft Customer Agreement

Go to Cost Management + Billing, then Invoices, and use Download on the invoice row. You need the Owner, Contributor, Reader or Invoice Manager role on the billing profile.

Pay-as-you-go subscriptions

Open the subscription's Invoices page and download from there. You need the account admin role for the subscription.

Enterprise Agreement

Only an Enterprise Administrator can view and download the invoice. EA views can show up to three years of invoice details.

Invoices by email

  • On a Customer Agreement, open the billing profile's Properties, go to invoice and payment contact settings and turn on Get invoices in email attachments. A role inherited from the billing account does not receive invoices; it has to be granted on the billing profile itself.
  • On pay-as-you-go, use Receive invoice by email on the Invoices page, and add extra recipients there.

Azure Government customers can only download invoices, not receive them by email. If an emailed invoice arrives without its PDF, download it from the portal.

Tax receipts and bulk downloads

For Customer Agreement and Partner Agreement accounts, Azure's billing API can return a zip of documents for a billing account: invoice PDFs, tax receipts and credit notes. Individual tax receipts can be requested by document ID.

The 12-month view

The Invoices page shows the last 12 months in most views. Change the timespan for older ones.

Azure invoices routed to accounts payable

The emailed invoice is the easiest one to capture: grant the billing profile role to a mailbox that email receipt capture reads, turn on email attachments, and each Azure invoice is filed the day it is issued. Where emails arrive without the PDF, or the role cannot be granted, connect a billing reader login and our AI agent signs in to Cost Management + Billing and downloads each invoice and tax receipt with bill fetching. Subscription tracking shows the monthly cloud spend next to your other software.
