Bell

MyBell keeps your Bell bills for up to 18 months, on the web and in the MyBell app. Each past bill can be downloaded for free.

The current bill

  1. Log in to MyBell.
  2. Select My bills and payments.
  3. Select the bill. The current bill opens, and you can download it as a PDF.

Past bills

  1. From My bills and payments, select the bill, then the Past bills tab next to Current bill.
  2. Scroll down to Detailed history.
  3. Select the magnifying glass to open a past bill, or the download icon beside it to save it.

The Past bills tab also shows a trend view of the last four months, handy for spotting a jump in charges.

Payment history

The Payments tab lists the date, payment method and amount of each payment. A payment record is not a bill, though. For an expense claim or your tax records, keep the bill itself.

Older bills and reprints

Bills older than 18 months are no longer in MyBell. Contact Bell to request a reprint. Bell charges a fee for paper reprints ordered by phone, while bills you download online within the history window are free.

Taxes on a Bell bill

The taxes depend on your province: 13% HST in Ontario, for example, or 5% GST plus 9.975% QST in Quebec. An itemized bill shows the tax for each service, which matters when only one line or service is a business cost.

Bell bills and input tax credits

If part of your Bell bill is a business cost, the bill is the document that supports the input tax credit. Pulling twelve PDFs at year-end works only if none have rolled off.

Paying a Bell bill and setting up pre-authorized payments

In MyBell, select Pay now. Under Other payment options, Pay by credit card takes the card and applies the payment within 24 hours. Through your bank shows the blue Customer ID to copy, then sends you to your financial institution to add Bell as a payee.

For pre-authorized payments:

  1. Log in to MyBell, select Pay now, then Set up pre-authorized payments.
  2. Choose Pay through my bank, with Interac verification or details typed by hand, or Pay by credit card with Visa, Mastercard or American Express. Prepaid and debit cards are refused.
  3. Select Continue to review, then Submit.

Setup takes one to two bill cycles. Bank withdrawals then come out 18 days after the billing date, and card charges within four business days of it. The statement behind each withdrawal still shows the sales taxes, and your input tax credit claim points to that statement, not to the bank line.

Bell bills collected every month

Connect your MyBell account to Smartbills and our AI agent signs in when each bill is issued, downloads the PDF and records the GST, HST or QST for tax time, through bill fetching. The 18-month window stops mattering because nothing waits to be downloaded. If you get Bell's e-bill notification by email, email receipt capture picks it up as a second signal that the month's bill has arrived.
