Every purchase and renewal creates an order. Open the order to download its invoice. The read-only Orders and Invoices API only returns an invoice for orders that are completed or refunded, which is a good rule of thumb for the dashboard too. If a receipt email never arrives, WooCommerce.com support can check the payment.

How subscription renewals are billed

Auto-renew is on for new purchases. On the due date, the saved card is charged and a receipt confirms another year. With auto-renew off, WooCommerce.com creates a renewal order for you to pay manually and sends reminders 60, 45, 20, 7 and 2 days ahead. Renewals bill 100% of the current price, coupons do not apply, and early renewal is not supported. Manage all of this on My Subscriptions. A failed card is retried for about 26 days.

Getting your tax number on the invoice

Add VAT numbers or other tax IDs under My Account > Taxpayer Codes before you buy; checkout and later renewals use the saved code. Canadian customers enter a GST number, and accounts in Quebec, British Columbia, Saskatchewan or Manitoba also get a QST or PST field. Forgot the number? You can refund the order from Orders within 30 days, add the code and buy again. After 30 days the invoice cannot be adjusted.

Invoices by API

An account administrator can enable API access and create an application password on the Profile page. GET /wp-json/wc/v3/orders/{id}/invoice then returns an invoice URL, either a hosted PDF or a direct download link. It is separate from the REST API of your own store.

Invoices for your own store's customers

Many people searching this are after invoices for their shoppers, not for their WooCommerce.com purchases. Those come from extensions sold on the WooCommerce Marketplace. The PDF Invoices extension, for example, attaches a PDF invoice to the completed order email and lets customers download past invoices from their account.
