Mercari's purchase receipt shows sales tax and any state-imposed fees as separate lines, according to its sales tax policy. Its help pages do not describe a step-by-step receipt download for buyers. Sellers have a fuller record: the Sales Report on Mercari.com, under Account > Seller Dashboard, which itemizes the selling fee and net proceeds for every order in a date range you choose.
What the buyer's receipt shows
Sales tax is not shown on listings; the amount appears before you pay and is repeated on the receipt as its own line. Colorado orders also carry a $0.28 Retail Delivery Fee, charged since July 1, 2023. Buyers pay a Buyer Protection fee of 3.6% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping on listings created or updated since January 6, 2025, and it is part of the final price at checkout.
Sale lookup in the Sales Report
Sign in on Mercari.com, open Account, then Seller Dashboard, then Sales Report, and set the dates. Each row carries the Item ID, which begins with m or b and also appears on the order status page. That ID is how you look up a single sale. Columns include item price, buyer shipping fee, seller shipping fee, shipping adjustment fee, Mercari Selling Fee, payment processing fee, net seller proceeds and the sales tax charged to the buyer. Fees count only on completed orders; in-progress rows show estimates. The report does not include what you paid for the item.
Selling fees behind the numbers
Listings created or updated on or after January 6, 2025 carry a 10% selling fee on the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, with no separate processing fee. Instant Pay costs $3 per cash-out, up to $600 a month. A seller cancelation fee of 5% of the item price, capped at $25, comes out of your balance or card.
Tax Center and Form 1099-K
Account Settings > Tax Center is where you enter W-9 details and download Form 1099-K, which Mercari posts by January 31 for the prior year if you qualify. Changes to a prior year's W-9 must be accepted by January 7. The Sales Report shows gross sales without subtracting refunds or cancelations, which helps when reconciling against the form.
Mercari purchases and sales on file
A repair shop buying used parts on Mercari needs each receipt email kept with the job. Forward them to email receipt capture, and an employee who paid personally can submit one on an expense report. Sellers can file the yearly Sales Report and 1099-K with their tax receipts.
