United Airlines

To get a United Airlines receipt, open the Search receipt page on united.com. Sign in to MileagePlus to see your travel receipts and request a copy, or look one up with your confirmation or eTicket number plus the first and last name exactly as they appear on the reservation. United keeps receipts available for up to 12 months after the flight date.

Receipt lookup by confirmation code

No MileagePlus login? The lookup form on the same page works for any ticket United issued. It asks for:

  • the confirmation code or the eTicket number
  • the traveler's first name
  • the traveler's last name, spelled as on the booking

Select Find receipt to open it. A name that differs from the reservation returns nothing. Check hyphens and middle names before you try again.

Receipts in your MileagePlus account

United's receipt page tells members to log in to MileagePlus to view receipts and request a copy. The account keeps purchase receipts in a single place, which helps when several trips go on one expense report. Travelers without an account can sign up for one, and United presents that as the way to keep every purchase receipt accessible.

The 12-month limit

United's FAQ on the same page says receipts are available for up to 12 months after your flight date. Pull the receipt soon after you land if a reimbursement or a year-end claim depends on it. Refunds are a separate process: United sends refund requests to its Refund Services page, not to the receipt search.

Tickets bought through a travel agency

United can only reproduce electronic receipts for purchases it issued. When a travel agent, a corporate booking tool or any other outside source issued the ticket, United cannot provide the receipt or the confirmation. Ask whoever sold you the ticket for that copy.

Where the ticket number sits

On a receipt printed from united.com, the ticket number appears on the left side, above the baggage fees. Note it next to the expense. It is the reference to quote if a charge has to be matched to the flight later.

United receipts saved before the year runs out

A United flight you forgot to expense can lose its receipt once 12 months pass. Connect your MileagePlus account and our AI agent signs in and fetches each receipt it holds, through bill fetching. The eTicket emails United sends are filed the moment they arrive by email receipt capture, and each flight then lands on an expense report with the rest of the trip.
