Mullvad issues receipts through a self-service page, but only for 20 days after you pay. Log in on mullvad.net with the account number you paid to, open Request a receipt, choose the tab for your payment method, enter the payment token and click Download receipt. After 20 days, email Mullvad with your account number.
Downloading the receipt
- Log in on mullvad.net with the Mullvad account number you paid to.
- Go to the Request a receipt page.
- Click the tab for your payment method: Credit card, PayPal, Swish or Other.
- Follow the instructions on that tab to locate your payment token.
- Enter the token and click Download receipt.
Which payments get a receipt
Payments that come with a token are covered: bank wire, cash, PayPal, Swish, and card, iDEAL/Wero, Przelewy24, Bancontact and EPS payments processed by Stripe. Cryptocurrency payments have no token; for those, you email Mullvad directly. Mullvad gives no receipts for in-app purchases on iOS or Android, where Apple or Google sends one, or for vouchers, where the reseller should provide it.
Company name and address
The self-service receipt cannot be customized. For an invoice with a company name and address, email Mullvad with your account number, your country and the details to add. Mullvad states that it does not reverse charge VAT. A business in another EU country should expect the VAT to stay on the invoice.
Receipt lookup after the window closes
There is no account history to browse: the lookup is the token you enter. If you cannot find your token, or it does not work, email Mullvad with your account number included and the team can help, even past the 20-day mark.
Mullvad paperwork for a privacy-first VPN
Mullvad's design keeps almost nothing about you, which is also why the receipt has to be collected quickly. Download it in the first 20 days, or ask support for the company version, then send the PDF to a mailbox that email receipt capture reads and it is filed with the date and amount. From there it can be attached to an expense report, and any VAT shown is kept for your tax records.
