After you pay for a Megabus trip in the U.S., a confirmation page shows your reservation numbers, and Megabus asks you to print that page as the record of your transaction. A reservation confirmation email follows, alongside a separate payment email from WorldPay. With a free Megabus account, past trips stay listed under my tickets.
Two emails, two jobs
Expect two messages after checkout. The WorldPay email confirms the card payment. The Megabus reservation confirmation carries the reservation number you show to board. If you only receive the WorldPay message, or neither within an hour of buying, call Megabus at 877-462-6342.
Past trips under my tickets
Creating an account is free and puts all your reservations behind one login. The my tickets section lists upcoming and previous trips, which is the place to look when you need a trip you no longer have the email for. Reservation numbers mix letters and digits. Copy them rather than retyping.
Fees on the total
Megabus adds a $3.99 reservation fee to every online reservation. Booking by phone costs a $7.00 reservation fee instead. Trading a ticket in for another trip costs a $3.00 trade-in fee plus the $3.99 fee on the new reservation. Those fees are part of the fare you claim.
No luggage receipts
Megabus does not check bags and does not issue receipts for luggage carried on the bus. Nothing beyond the fare will show on your paperwork.
Megabus confirmations saved automatically
Since Megabus splits payment and reservation into two emails, it helps to keep both together. Email receipt capture files the reservation confirmation and the WorldPay payment note side by side. If you printed the confirmation page, the receipt scanner takes the paper copy, and the trip lands on your expense report.
