How to get a Hertz rental receipt

To get a Hertz receipt, open Hertz's Request a Receipt page and search by reservation or rental agreement number, or by driver's licence. A receipt can take up to 7 days to appear after the rental closes and stays online for six months. Gold Plus Rewards members can have every receipt emailed automatically.
Searching online
- Open Hertz's Request a Receipt page.
- Search by reservation or rental agreement number, or by driver's licence. The rental record number is on your paper rental agreement.
- Results show up to 20 receipts at a time. Use the advanced search to narrow them down.
How long it takes, and how long it stays
A receipt can take up to 7 days to appear after the rental closes. Copies are kept online for up to six months from the date the car was returned. If it still has not appeared after 7 days, contact Hertz customer service.
eReceipts by email
Gold Plus Rewards members can opt in to eReceipts from the Vehicle Preferences page of their profile. Hertz then emails a PDF of the receipt to the address in your profile within about 30 minutes of closing the rental. If they stop arriving, check that the profile's email address is still current. Past receipts are also under Find a Receipt in your profile.
PlatePass toll charges
Tolls paid through PlatePass are charged separately and do not appear on the rental receipt. They usually show on your card one to three weeks after the rental closes, labelled as a Hertz toll charge, and can include a convenience fee on top of the tolls. Keep the PlatePass summary with the rental receipt and the two will add up.
Exceptions
Receipts for rentals in New Zealand are not available online, and receipts for rentals in Tasmania can only be found by driver's licence.
A statement of charges
Hertz describes its eReceipts as a detailed statement of charges. That is what most expense policies need. If your company or a tax authority insists on a formal tax invoice, ask Hertz customer service.
Hertz receipts landing on their own
Turning on eReceipts means the receipt is in your inbox before you reach the terminal, and email receipt capture can file it there with the fuel and fees read off. PlatePass charges arrive weeks later and separately, which is where connecting your Gold Plus Rewards account helps: our AI agent signs in, fetches each receipt from Find a Receipt during the six-month window, and keeps the rental and its tolls together for the expense report, through bill fetching.
