FreshCo is a discount grocer, and its receipts stay simple: you get a paper slip at checkout, and FreshCo doesn't publish any way to look up or reprint it later. Two of FreshCo's own policies depend on that slip, which makes it worth more than it looks.
The 14-day Double Fresh Guarantee
If you aren't satisfied with an item, FreshCo's FAQ says to bring it back to the store with your receipt within 14 days, and FreshCo will refund your money and replace the item. FreshCo also suggests contacting the product's manufacturer directly with feedback. Without the receipt, the guarantee is hard to use, since the receipt is the proof of when and where you bought it.
Missing Scene+ points
FreshCo is part of Scene+. If you scanned your card and points are missing, FreshCo tells you to keep your receipt and visit the in-store Customer Service desk, or email support@sceneplus.ca. The Scene+ help centre adds that points can take up to 48 hours to post, and that it will want a photo of the receipt and the offer details when it looks into a claim. Scene+ Member Services is at 1-866-586-2805.
Scanning the card alone doesn't earn points per dollar at grocery stores. Points come from offers, loaded offers, coupons and promotions, or from paying with a qualifying Scotiabank card. Check that an offer applied before you chase it.
Redeeming with a digital card
If you redeem points with a digital Scene+ card, the cashier may ask for ID. FreshCo recommends keeping the card in an app that shows your name, such as the Scene+ app or the grocery store app.
FreshCo Pharmacy and Chalo! FreshCo
FreshCo Pharmacy and Chalo! FreshCo Pharmacy earn Scene+ points on marked health and wellness items and offers. The pharmacy receipt is a separate record from your grocery slip. Keep both.
A FreshCo receipt for an expense claim
For groceries bought for work, attach the itemized receipt. It shows which items were taxed, something a debit or credit statement can't show.
FreshCo receipts saved before they fade
With no account to look receipts up in, the slip has to be caught the day you get it. Photograph it in the Smartbills app and the copy outlasts the 14-day return window and any Scene+ claim, with the items and the tax already read. Anything bought for work moves onto your expense report in the same step.
