- Enter the start and end dates of the statement.
- Optionally, include the medication names, the prescribing physicians and $0.00 prescriptions.
- Tap Download to get the PDF.
In your MaSanté online record
- Log in to your record on brunet.ca.
- Select the tab of the person you want the statement for.
- Click Statement for Income Tax Return.
- Enter the dates, choose any extra information to include, and click Submit to create a printable PDF.
If you don't have a MaSanté record yet
Brunet describes three steps: ask your pharmacist for your access code, create a personal account on brunet.ca and click Activate your file in the MaSanté section, then complete the file by entering your account number and the access code. The code links your online file to your pharmacy file and is only asked for once. Brunet won't send it by mail or email; you get it from your Brunet-affiliated pharmacy, in person or by phone.
Receipts at the pharmacy
The tax statement is a summary. The detailed receipt for your prescriptions and your official cash receipt are handed to you when you pick up the order at the pharmacy or when it's delivered. Purchases from the store side of the pharmacy aren't on the statement. Keep those receipts if you'll claim them.
On your tax return
Prescription drugs can count toward the medical expense credit on both your federal and Québec returns. Including the $0.00 prescriptions is optional; leaving them out keeps the statement to what you actually paid. Your pharmacist can answer questions about the record, and Brunet takes technical support requests through its online contact form.
The Brunet statement next to your other medical receipts
The statement is a PDF, which the Smartbills app reads like any receipt, prescription by prescription. Kept alongside the photographed cash receipts from the pharmacy counter, the whole year's medical costs come out together through tax receipts when it's time to file.
