Dollar Tree will send a duplicate store receipt when you paid by credit, debit or EBT card, the purchase came to $5.00 or more, and it was made within the last three months. You request it through Dollar Tree's customer help form and should allow five business days. Without the original receipt, a store can exchange your item at the current scanned price, but a refund needs the receipt.
Duplicate receipt lookup: who qualifies
Dollar Tree's Duplicate Receipt Requests page lists three conditions, and all of them must hold:
- You paid with a credit, debit or EBT card.
- The total was $5.00 or more.
- The purchase is no more than three months old.
If you qualify, open the page and select Submit Customer Help Form. Dollar Tree states there are no exceptions: cash purchases, totals under $5.00 and trips older than three months cannot be duplicated.
Returning an item without the original receipt
For store purchases, start with a store associate. Dollar Tree's merchandise return policy sets out two outcomes:
- With the original receipt: exchange for another item, or a refund in the original form of payment.
- Without it: an exchange only, valued at the item's current scanned price.
Gift cards and prepaid financial cards cannot be refunded or exchanged either way.
Orders from DollarTree.com
All sales are final for orders placed on DollarTree.com. If an order arrives incomplete or damaged, call Customer Order Support at 1-877-530-8733 with your order information.
Cash trips and small baskets
The duplicate rules leave two common purchases with no backup at all: anything paid in cash, and any basket under five dollars. Office snacks, party supplies or cleaning items bought that way exist only on the slip the cashier hands you. Keep it, or keep a picture of it.
Dollar Tree receipts before the three months run out
A duplicate request only reaches back three months, and it takes days to arrive. A quick photo in the receipt scanner keeps the slip readable for good, including the cash and under-$5 trips Dollar Tree cannot copy. Each one can sit on an expense report for reimbursement, or be kept with your tax receipts as support for small business supplies.
