How the business receipt lookup works

Dollar General's Help Center has a Business Receipts article for exactly this case. Send customer support all of the following:

1. The store location or address.
2. The date of purchase.
3. The purchase amount, if you know it.
4. How you paid: cash, check or card.
5. The last four digits of the card, if you paid by card.

Bringing an item back with no receipt

The store return policy is short on this point. No receipt means an even swap for something of equal value, or a Dollar General gift card for that value. Items bought with EBT or SNAP follow USDA rules for returns.

What a receipt adds

With a receipt and the original packaging, the refund is guaranteed within 90 days. A few categories have their own limits:

• Some seasonal merchandise can only be exchanged for the identical item.
• Opened CDs, DVDs and software are exchanged for identical titles.
• Tobacco products are never refunded or exchanged.
• Alcohol needs the receipt, is refunded only, and goes back to the store where it was bought.
• Propane cylinders are exchanged only when defective.

Delivery and shipped orders

For a myDG Delivery order, the receipt, discounts and promotions are in Order History in your myDG account. Same-day orders placed through DoorDash are handled by DoorDash support, and Dollar General stores cannot accept a DoorDash receipt for a return. Shipped items can be returned unused within 30 days, excluding food and hazmat; contact Customer Care for a return address and authorization number first.
