How to download Stripe tax invoices for fees

Stripe

Stripe takes its fees out of your payments, which means there is no bill to pay. For bookkeeping, though, you need the fee invoice. In many countries Stripe issues a monthly tax invoice (a VAT or GST invoice) listing its fees and any tax on them.

Where to download it

Look in the Dashboard's Documents page, under Settings and Reporting and Documents. Some accounts also show invoices under Plans and fees, Invoice history. Stripe's own fees report points to the Documents page.

Who gets a tax invoice

Downloadable tax invoices are issued to businesses whose legal address is in certain countries or US states, including Australia, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, the UAE and the United States. Check Stripe's list for your country.

When it is ready

Invoices are available by the 10th of the following month. No invoice is issued for a month with no taxes applied to your activity, or if your account is missing the information needed to generate one.

Your tax number

Update your indirect tax number (VAT, GST and so on) in the Dashboard, in Tax Details under Business Settings. If your business details changed, you may be able to regenerate an invoice from the Documents page: Stripe issues a credit note for the original and a new invoice with the updated details.

The fees report is not an invoice

Stripe's fees report downloads as a CSV of fee activity. It is useful for reconciliation, but it is not a PDF invoice or receipt.

Stripe fees booked with the right paperwork

Because Stripe nets its fees out of payouts, the fee invoice is easy to forget until your accountant asks for the input tax. Connect your Stripe account and our AI agent signs in after the 10th of each month and saves the tax invoice from Documents through bill fetching, with the tax on fees ready for tax time. Stripe's billing emails can be filed by email receipt capture alongside.
