Washington Gas

The Washington Gas Customer Portal lets you view and print your bill on demand for up to 12 months and check your billing and payment history. The same portal, the My Washington Gas app and 844-WASHGAS (844-927-4427) take payments. Electronic checks are free, and card fees depend on whether you live in Maryland, DC or Virginia.

Bill lookup in the Customer Portal

Register on the Customer Portal and sign in to view or print any of the last 12 months of bills and to see billing and payment history. From the portal you can also enroll in Budget Billing, eBill or AutoPay. The Automated Services line, 888-360-5647, gives balances and takes payments at any hour.

Card and check payments, and what they cost

Paying by electronic check costs nothing. Debit and credit cards online or by phone cost $2.75 for Maryland and DC residential customers and $9.95 for non-residential customers. Virginia customers pay no convenience fee. By phone, a check payment needs your account number plus your bank's routing and checking numbers. A card payment needs the account number, your house or building number and the card number.

Cash, mail and walk-in centers

  • Cash at stores: use the barcode on your bill or an EZ-Payslip at 7-Eleven, CVS, Walgreens, Walmart and other stores, at no charge. Allow two business days before the due date.
  • Mail: check or money order with the stub to P.O. Box 37747, Philadelphia, PA 19101-5047. Checks are cleared electronically and not returned. Your bank statement becomes your proof of payment.
  • Walk-in: National Press Building in DC, Winchester in Virginia and Frederick in Maryland, weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Anacostia/Congress Heights office doesn't take cash.

AutoPay, the Automated Payment Plan

Apply at washingtongas.com/autopay, through your online account or the app, or by calling 844-WASHGAS. On the due date, the vendor deducts the bill amount from the checking account you named. You need an account at a U.S. financial institution, and your Washington Gas account must be active and not removed from the plan in the past 12 months. To suspend a payment, call at least three business days before the due date. The bill keeps arriving on paper or as an eBill, and it stays the document to file.

eBill notices

With eBill, an email arrives each month when the new bill is posted, with links to view and pay it. Paper bills may continue for up to two months after you enroll.

Washington Gas bills beyond twelve months

The portal's 12-month window is short for DC-area landlords and anyone claiming home office costs. Connect your Customer Portal account and our AI agent signs in and keeps every bill through bill fetching. The eBill emails are filed by email receipt capture, and each bill can be added to an expense report.
