Nova Scotia Power

Nova Scotia Power bills are downloaded from MyAccount. Register with the account number and web access code from a paper bill, then log in to download a bill and print it whenever you need it. Signing up for MyAccount also turns on paperless billing.

Registering for MyAccount

  1. Start a new MyAccount profile on the Nova Scotia Power website.
  2. Enter your account number and your web access code.
  3. Open the email MyAccount sends you and click the link to finish.

Nova Scotia Power also sets up profiles by phone at 1-800-428-6230. Once you are signed in, select View & Pay Your Bill when all you want is the bill itself.

What the paperless email holds

Paperless billing is a summary sent to your inbox: the amount owing and the due date, with the option to log in for the full bill. You are enrolled automatically when you join MyAccount. To return to paper, call customer care and confirm your preference.

Recognizing a real bill email

Real e-bill notices come from home@nspower.ca and never include attachments. The links in them lead to a secure site where you log in to MyAccount. An email with a bill attached, or from another address, is not from Nova Scotia Power.

After the cyber incident

Nova Scotia Power's billing pages still thank customers for their patience while it restores systems affected by a cyber incident. Some tools, such as MyEnergy Insights, are still being brought back online. If a page in MyAccount looks incomplete, that notice is the likely reason.

Where taxes appear

On each bill layout, the Other Charges section covers service charges, adjustments and taxes. That is the section to read when recording the tax on a business electricity cost.

Paying your Nova Scotia Power bill and pre-authorized payments

To pay through your bank's website, add Nova Scotia Power Inc. as a payee with your eight-digit account number. Your branch, an automatic banking machine and telephone banking work too, and payment agents across the province accept the bill stub or account number. Cheques go to PO Box 848, Halifax, Nova Scotia B3J 2V7 with the account number written on them.

For automatic payments from a bank account, log in or register for a MyAccount profile and set up pre-authorized payments there; you can update the payment details or amount later in the same place. Visa and Mastercard holders can pay once or automatically through EZ Pay, a third-party provider whose 1.75% processing fee is charged by the vendor, not by Nova Scotia Power.

Whichever method you pick, keep the bill itself from MyAccount. An EZ Pay card charge will not show the HST or the kilowatt-hours your records need.

Nova Scotia Power bills saved for you

The home@nspower.ca email never carries the bill. Your inbox alone will not hold your records. Connect MyAccount and our AI agent logs in, downloads each new bill and saves it, through bill fetching. The notice itself still helps: email receipt capture spots it and flags the bill as issued, and the year's bills are gathered for tax time.
