Hydro Ottawa

Hydro Ottawa bills are in MyAccount, where you can view, download or print the full PDF bill at any time. Billing and usage data stays there, free of charge, for up to two years. For bills older than that, Hydro Ottawa can send copies, for a fee.

Signing up

All MyAccount needs is an email address. You can also sign in with a social login or an Apple ID. Once inside, MyAccount shows your bill history next to your energy usage. Bills can be paid there too, or through your bank, by mail, or by credit or debit card. A new account's first bill usually comes four to six weeks after service starts.

Copies for your tax return

Hydro Ottawa answers this one directly: the two years of billing and usage data in your online account are free. Copies or financial reports that Hydro Ottawa prepares and sends cost extra. Download the year you need from MyAccount before it rolls off.

Online billing: bills by email

With online billing, paper bills stop and an email arrives each time a bill is ready. The email links straight to a PDF of the full bill, with no login needed. The default enhanced notification lists the address, amount due, due date and a partial account number. If you prefer a plain notice, switch to a standard notification in MyAccount.

Adding many accounts with a CSV file

  1. In MyAccount, open the Account tab.
  2. Select Add multiple accounts, beside the Search bar.
  3. Upload a CSV of no more than 10 KB with four columns: the first 10 digits of the account number, a nickname, the last bill amount and Y or N to enrol in online billing.

When several bills are ready on the same cycle, one email summarizes each account with a link to its PDF. Questions go to (613) 738-6400.

Paying your Hydro Ottawa bill and pre-authorized payments

Most major Canadian banks take Hydro Ottawa payments through online or mobile banking, by phone, or at a branch or ATM with the remittance stub. A card payment through Pay now in MyAccount carries a 1.75 per cent service fee kept by the third-party provider; credit cards are also accepted by phone at (613) 738-6400. Mailed cheques or money orders, with the 20-digit account number on the front, go to Hydro Ottawa, P.O. Box 8700, Ottawa, ON K1G 3S4 at least five days before the due date.

The pre-authorized payment plan takes the bill amount from your bank account on each due date. Set it up in MyAccount under Manage Payment Plan. It is open to qualifying accounts in good standing under the Regulated Price Plan.

The bill PDF in MyAccount still carries the HST and the account details, and it is the document that matches each withdrawal at tax time.

Hydro Ottawa bills filed from the email or the account

Hydro Ottawa's notice links to the PDF itself, which makes the inbox a reliable trail. Email receipt capture picks up each notice, including the combined ones that cover several properties. For the PDFs, connect MyAccount and our AI agent signs in, saves every account's bill and the two years already there, through bill fetching, ready for tax time.
