Hydro One shows your bills, balance, due date and payment history in myAccount. To get each full bill as a PDF you can save, turn on the eBill PDF.
Seeing your bills
Register for myAccount, then log in. A list of your bills and payments appears, along with the balance and due date.
Turning on the eBill PDF
- Log in to myAccount.
- Scroll to Account Strength and select Paperless Billing and eBill (PDF).
- Agree to the terms and turn on the Email toggle.
From then on, each eBill notification has a View my bill link that opens the full bill, which you can download and save.
The four line items
A residential bill has four main lines:
- Electricity, priced by the Ontario Energy Board for most residential customers.
- Delivery, Hydro One's own part of the bill.
- Regulatory charges, collected for the system operator and the market.
- HST at 13%.
The Ontario Electricity Rebate is calculated on the base amount before HST.
Switching back to paper
Call Hydro One, or log in to myAccount, select Manage my Profile and go to Manage my Subscriptions under Billing & Payment Preferences.
Hydro bills as a business expense
For a home office, a rental property or a business premises, the bill is the record that supports the expense and the HST input tax credit.
Paying a Hydro One bill and signing up for AutoPay
Hydro One's Conditions of Service list the accepted methods: a cheque or money order with the remittance stub, in person at most Canadian financial institutions, automated banking machines, telephone banking or Internet bill payment, MoneyGram or Western Union, and credit cards through Paymentus, which adds its own service fee. Payments are made in Canadian dollars and can take up to five business days to process.
AutoPay is Hydro One's name for pre-authorized payments:
- Sign in to myAccount.
- Open AutoPay and add your bank's name, transit number and account number.
- Confirm. AutoPay starts with the next billing cycle.
Hydro One says it always notifies you before the due date with what will be paid and when. That notice is the moment to save the bill: with the eBill PDF turned on, the attachment holds the four line items and the HST, which the bank withdrawal never lists.
Hydro One bills handled from the email onward
With the eBill PDF on, every bill arrives as an email with a link, which makes it a natural fit for email receipt capture: each notification is picked up from your inbox the day it lands. To store the full PDF without clicking through, connect myAccount and our AI agent signs in, opens the bill and saves it with the HST read off for tax time, through bill fetching.
