Duke Energy

Sign in to your Duke Energy account on the website or in the Duke Energy app to see your bill. Duke keeps up to 24 months of billing history online, and you can view and download each bill securely from either place. To pay, use the same account, the automated line at 800.777.9898 or a payment location.

Two years of bills online

Duke describes the online bill as carrying the same level of detail as the paper one. Billing history reaches back up to 24 months, which covers this year's taxes and last year's. The app adds usage details by bill cycle, week, day and hour if you want to see why a bill jumped.

Switching to paperless

  1. Sign in to your account, or sign up for a new one.
  2. Under Billing and Payment, select Paperless Billing.
  3. Turn on the toggle switch.
  4. Set your notifications, such as when a bill is ready to view, by email, text or both.

After that, an email tells you each time a new bill is available. Paperless Billing lets you sign in to view the bill or receive a secure PDF each month.

More than one Duke Energy account

Each account is enrolled on its own. From the Account Selector page, choose the account, find the Paperless Billing option on its dashboard and select Enroll. Repeat for every rental, shop or second home you manage.

No import into money software

Duke says e-bill information cannot be downloaded into Quicken, MS Money or other money management programs at this time. Plan on saving each bill as a file and entering the amount yourself.

Business accounts

Registered business customers get the Business Experience. It can give other employees or outside vendors online access to some or all of your billing and energy information, offers reports and downloadable data covering usage, billing and payments, and pays up to 100 bills in one transaction.

Paying a Duke Energy bill and turning on Auto Pay

Signed in, you pay with stored payment details from the Pay Bill page; without an online account, choose Pay as Guest. The Duke Energy app takes payments too. For a same-day payment by phone, Duke sends you to Speedpay, a third-party vendor, at 800.777.9898, while preferred in-person locations and a mailed check or money order cover everyone else.

Auto Pay is free and drafts the full amount from your bank account on the due date:

  1. Pay the full amount due before enrolling, to avoid overdraft or returned-item fees.
  2. Sign in and select Manage Programs, to the right of Billing & Payment Activity.
  3. Find Auto Pay and enroll, with a check or deposit slip at hand.

Enrollment is complete once the statement says payment will be made by monthly automatic draft. That statement still comes every month and stays the record of the energy cost, while the bank line only shows money leaving.

Duke Energy bills kept past the two-year window

Twenty-four months covers the tax return you are filing now, not the one a reviewer asks about three years later. With bill fetching, our AI agent signs in to Duke Energy each cycle and keeps the new bill, account by account if the Account Selector lists several. The bill-ready email goes to email receipt capture, while the home office share of your power bill is on hand for tax receipts at year end.
