National Grid

To download a National Grid bill, sign in, open Bills & Payments from Account Overview and use the PDF icon beside the bill on the Bill History page. The last 24 months of statements are kept in your online profile. You can pay from the profile or straight from the paperless bill email.

Bill History, step by step

  1. Go to nationalgridus.com and select Sign In/Register at the top right.
  2. Enter your email and password.
  3. On Account Overview, click Bills & Payments.
  4. On the Bill History page, click the magnifying glass to view a bill or the PDF icon to download it.

National Grid's walkthrough dates from 2021. If a label has moved, look for the same Bills & Payments area.

Two years of rows in one export

Export All Billing Rows downloads 24 months of bill and payment data at once. The Track Usage tab adds a table for gas and electric with delivery charges, supply charges, late payment charges and total charges per billing period. Download it in Excel format, or as a .csv spreadsheet or Green Button .xml file.

The paperless bill email

The emailed bill is identical to the paper one, and a printed or emailed copy is accepted as proof of address. Click View Bill in the email to open and print it. Without a web profile, you confirm who you are with the ten-digit phone number or the last 4 digits of the SSN or Taxpayer ID on the account; five failed tries lock you out for 60 minutes. Old bill emails you keep work as a second archive next to the online profile.

On its Upstate New York page, National Grid also mentions a monthly bill credit for enrolling in paperless billing.

My Business Account

My Business Account is a free portal for customers with several energy accounts. It can group, filter, search and sort accounts, view or download bills, show billing history and bulk enroll accounts in paperless billing. Any customer with active accounts may use it, signing in with the same credentials as an existing online profile. Portal questions go to box.concierge@nationalgrid.com.

Paying your National Grid bill and setting up recurring payments

National Grid's Ways to Pay page for Upstate New York starts with bank account payments, which need an online profile and can also be scheduled in the National Grid app. Cards, Venmo, PayPal, Google Pay and Apple Pay go through Speedpay for a fee, from $1.85 on a residential account. You can also call 1-800-642-4272 with your 10-digit account number, pay at an authorized location or mail a check.

Automatic payments are called Recurring Payments and come only from a bank account. Choose Enroll Now, then pick the full bill amount, a maximum amount or a fixed amount. The first two are withdrawn on the due date; a fixed amount can run weekly, every two weeks or monthly from a date you choose.

A recurring withdrawal does not replace the bill. Download each month's PDF from Bill History, since the bank line will not show the usage or taxes your bookkeeper asks about.

National Grid accounts handled for you

Property managers with gas and electric accounts across Massachusetts and New York know the routine: one portal, many PDFs, every month. Connect My Account or My Business Account and our AI agent signs in, downloads each bill from Bill History and files it through bill fetching. Paperless bill emails can run through email receipt capture as a second copy, and every bill is ready for an expense report or your accountant.
