Denver Water bills are managed in a Denver Water Online account, opened from Manage Account/Pay Bill at the top right of denverwater.org. With e-bill turned on, each bill arrives by email from ebill@denverwater.org. To pay without an account, use the one-time guest payment online.
Creating a Denver Water Online account
You need the account number and the customer ID printed at the top of your bill. The account is available around the clock for paying bills, reviewing payment and water use history, updating contact details, and enrolling in autopay, paperless billing, text reminders or pay-by-text. Customer Care at 303-893-2444 can help with setup.
E-bill instead of paper
Add an email address on the Account Maintenance page, then select Sign Up in the e-bill field on Account Overview. E-bill starts with your next billing cycle. Add ebill@denverwater.org to your contacts or allowlist so the notices aren't filtered as spam.
Landlord and tenant bill copies
Under Denver Water's landlord and tenant policy, bills go both to the premises and to the landlord. A landlord can ask for only one bill to be sent, though Denver Water advises keeping the duplicate to see whether the account falls past due. Denver Water does not prorate bills between owner and tenant, and disputes over a bill are settled between the two of them. In a multi-family building, tenants are told to ask the property manager or homeowners association for billing history.
Paying and setting up autopay
- Online: full or partial payments in your account, or a one-time guest payment.
- Phone: automated payments at 1-800-556-0292.
- Mail: checks to P.O. Box 173343, Denver, CO 80217-3343.
- In person: Western Union agent locations.
- Pay-by-text: a text reminder five days before the due date, on top of your paper bill or e-bill.
Autopay draws from a credit or debit card, or from a checking, savings or money market account. Keep paying by hand until your bill shows Automatic Pay. The monthly bill continues under autopay, and it is the document that shows what each automatic charge covered.
Denver Water bills kept for owners and tenants
When the landlord gets the duplicate and the tenant gets the original, neither ends up with a tidy archive. Point the ebill@denverwater.org messages to email receipt capture and each bill is filed as it arrives. Landlords who still get the paper copy can photograph it with the receipt scanner, and both routes feed the same records for tax time.
