Capital One

Sign in at capitalone.com, open the checking or savings account and select view statements. In the app, tap the account, scroll to the bottom and tap statements. Active accounts show up to seven years of statements, but only if the account is enrolled in paperless statements.

Paperless enrollment comes first

Capital One requires paperless statements before it shows statements online. If the statements link is missing, switch the account to paperless and make sure a valid email address is on file. Capital One 360 accounts are automatically combined into one statement.

When a new statement appears

Bank statements are typically generated online by the 6th of each month. A savings account with no activity that triggers a monthly statement gets a quarterly one instead. Plan month-end reconciliation for after the 6th. If you close your books on the first business day of the month, the Capital One PDF for the month that just ended will not be there yet; reconcile against the transaction list first and swap in the statement once it posts.

Statement lookup on the web and in the app

  • Website: sign in, select the account, then view statements.
  • App: tap the account, scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap statements.

Transaction history covers two years

The past transactions list on the website shows two years of activity; the statements carry seven years. On the website, open the account and scroll to past transactions. In the app, tap the account and then view all next to the recent transactions header. Capital One's help article on transaction history does not describe a file export.

Using Capital One statements for bookkeeping

For a sole proprietor, the monthly PDF is what an accountant reconciles against. Rename each file by month as you save it and keep a folder per tax year. Purchases on the account still need the merchant's receipt if you plan to deduct them.

Capital One statements collected after the 6th

Connect your Capital One sign-in and our AI agent fetches each statement once it posts, through bill fetching. Debit card purchases that came with a paper slip can be added with a photo in the receipt scanner, and the year's statements are ready for tax time.
