BC Hydro

To download a past BC Hydro bill, log in to your BC Hydro account (linked to your MyHydro profile), switch to previous bills and open the one you need as a PDF to download, print or email. For a whole year at tax time, BC Hydro can export an annual bill summary covering up to three years.

Viewing past bills

  1. Log in to your BC Hydro account. Link your account to your MyHydro profile first if you have not.
  2. Your current balance and due date appear when you open the bill view.
  3. Switch to previous bills, or open the list of bills and payments.
  4. Open a bill as a PDF and download, print, save or email it.

Going paperless

In MyHydro, use Go paperless and choose the online bill format in Account Settings. BC Hydro then emails you when each bill is ready, with the amount and due date. Business customers can switch through BC Hydro's go paperless page or its business accounts team.

Exports for a whole year

For records covering a period, BC Hydro lets you request exports for any range up to the past three years:

  • Annual bill summary: a PDF of the amounts billed for the dates you choose. Handy at tax time.
  • Billing history: a CSV of billed use and account charges by bill date.
  • Electricity use history: a CSV or Green Button XML file of metered use.

Consolidated accounts can request a recurring report.

GST on the bill

A BC Hydro bill shows GST on its own line and carries BC Hydro's GST registration number, which is what a business needs to claim the input tax credit.

Hydro bills as a business expense

For a home office or a business premises, keep the bills themselves as the receipts. The annual summary is a good cross-check, but a reviewer will ask for the bills.

Paying a BC Hydro bill and pre-authorized payments

In online or telephone banking, add BC Hydro as a payee with your account number and allow three to five business days. Credit cards go through Paymentus, online or at 1 877 543 8357, for a 1.75% fee on each payment of up to $1,000. Cheques with the account number on them go to BC Hydro, P.O. Box 9501 STN Terminal, Vancouver, B.C. V6B 4N1.

Pre-authorized payments, which BC Hydro also calls auto-pay, pay each bill from your bank account. Enroll online through Set up auto-pay with the bank details from your cheques, or mail in the pre-authorized payments form. The equal payment plan spreads the year into identical monthly amounts based on the last 12 months of use.

Under either plan the bill keeps itemizing the electricity used and the GST. Download or export it each period; the withdrawal alone will not support a business claim.

BC Hydro bills in, every billing period

Once you go paperless, the bill-ready email is a reliable trigger, and email receipt capture logs each one with the amount and due date. For the PDF itself, connect MyHydro and our AI agent signs in when the bill posts, saves it and reads the GST for tax time, through bill fetching. No more requesting a three-year export because a year went missing.
