How to get an OpenAI API invoice

OpenAI API invoices and receipts are on the API platform, not in ChatGPT. Individual and team API customers find their payment history and available invoices or receipts in Billing history. Enterprise API customers download monthly invoices from the Billing section of the API platform. ChatGPT and the API run separate billing systems.
Prepaid credits and card billing
New API accounts use prepaid billing: you buy credits and your balance falls as you use the API. The minimum purchase is $5. Auto-reload is on by default during setup and buys credits when your balance drops below a threshold you set, with an optional monthly limit. Accounts on automatic card billing are charged at usage thresholds or monthly, depending on payment method and country. Each payment shows in Billing history.
Enterprise invoices
Enterprise API customers are billed at the end of each calendar month for that month's usage, unless a different arrangement is agreed in writing. Invoices are usually issued within 2 weeks after the cycle ends, and the contract sets the payment terms.
Tax ID and billing details
With permission to manage billing for the API organization, open the organization's billing preferences at platform.openai.com/settings/organization/billing/preferences and add your Tax ID or update billing information. Changes only affect future invoices. To ask for an issued invoice to be reviewed, contact OpenAI Support through the Help Center chat with the invoice number and the correction; a reissue is not guaranteed.
Invoice lookup for API credits
Billing history is the lookup for API payments. Purchased credits expire after 1 year and OpenAI cannot extend them; they are non-refundable except where law, contract or an approved exception applies. To reconcile, export monthly usage and cost data from the API Usage Dashboard and compare it with the invoices.
OpenAI API receipts for every top-up
Auto-reload can create several credit purchases a month, each with its own receipt. Connect the API organization's billing login and our AI agent downloads them from Billing history with bill fetching, kept apart from any ChatGPT seats. A developer's own top-ups can go on an expense report, and the tax on each receipt is kept for your tax records.
