How to get a Render invoice
Founder & CEO, Smartbills
2 min read
Render keeps invoices for past months on the Billing page of each workspace. From the workspace's homepage in the Render Dashboard, click Billing in the left pane. Admin, Developer and Billing members can view billing details there, while Contributor and Viewer members cannot.
Steps to open a past invoice
- Sign in to the Render Dashboard.
- Use the workspace dropdown at the top of the left pane to pick the workspace that pays.
- Click Billing in the left pane.
- Scroll to the invoices for past months and open the one you need.
One workspace, one bill
The Billing page belongs to the workspace you have selected. A hobby workspace on your own account and the company workspace are separate, with separate payment methods. If an invoice seems to be missing, switch workspaces before assuming it was never issued.
Accrued usage versus a finished invoice
The same page shows charges accrued so far in the current month, and how much of the plan's included free instance hours, outbound bandwidth and build pipeline minutes you have used. That running figure is not an invoice. For the books, wait for the month to close and use the invoice for that month.
Who can change billing
Render's Billing role exists for people who handle money but not code. It has full access to the workspace's billing settings, including the payment method, but cannot manage members or delete the workspace. Admins can also edit the payment method. Giving your bookkeeper the Billing role is the cleanest way to let them pull invoices without touching services.
VAT number or a wrong detail
Render's dashboard docs do not describe how a VAT number, company address or billing email reaches the invoice. Before a bookkeeper relies on those details, open one invoice and check them. Corrections are a question for Render support.
Render invoices without the month-end chase
Render's invoices live behind a dashboard login, one workspace at a time. Give a Billing-role login to Smartbills and our AI agent signs in after each month closes and downloads the invoice with bill fetching. Engineers who expensed a Render bill on their own card can attach it to expense reports, and subscription tracking shows each workspace's monthly total next to your other cloud tools.
