How to get an Avalara invoice

Avalara invoices are in the Avalara portal under Account > Overview. In the Current balance tile, select View billing details, open the Open invoices or Paid invoices tab, and click the download image on the invoice you want. The file saves to your computer as a PDF.
What the account section covers
- Subscriptions: the Avalara products and services you pay for.
- Usage: how much of each product you have used, with filters.
- Billing: billing history with paid and unpaid invoices, and the billing contact.
- Payments: payment methods, the default method and automatic payments.
Usage behind the invoice
The Usage view shows how much of each Avalara product you used, and its filters narrow the period. Compare it with the invoice when a bill looks higher than last month, before opening a support case.
The billing contact
Avalara sends billing information to the billing contact on the account. Update it in the Billing section so invoices and renewal quotes reach whoever pays them, especially after a controller or bookkeeper changes. A stale contact means a renewal quote that nobody on your team ever opens.
Renewal quotes and how to pay them
A quote previews your renewal subscription and invoice, emailed to the billing contact about six weeks before billing. Pay it by cheque made out to Avalara, Inc., mailed to Dept. CH 16781, Palatine, IL 60055-6781, or open a case with Avalara Support to set up ACH. Automatic payments for regular invoices are set up under Payments.
Invoice lookup: open versus paid
The two tabs under View billing details are the lookup. Unpaid invoices sit on Open invoices; once settled, they move to Paid invoices and stay downloadable.
Avalara invoices kept with your tax records
Sales tax software is a cost you want documented as carefully as the tax itself. Connect your Avalara login and our AI agent signs in to download each new invoice from View billing details through bill fetching. Quotes and billing emails sent to the billing contact are filed by email receipt capture, and the yearly total is ready for expense reports.
