A Wawa receipt comes from one of two places. When you activate the pump and pay with the Wawa App, the receipt sits in the Fuel Transaction history in the app. When you pay at the pump with a card or a contactless wallet, or at the register, the printed receipt is your record.
Fuel paid through the Wawa App
To earn Wawa Rewards points on fuel, you have to use the Wawa App to activate the pump and pay at a participating Wawa. Those fill-ups leave their receipt in the Fuel Transaction history. Members earn 5 points per gallon, and the points can take up to 24 hours to show in the Rewards Transaction history.
Why the receipt shows a lower price
When you use a fuel reward, the printed receipt and the receipt in the app both show only the price you paid after the discount. To confirm the discount, Wawa suggests comparing with the cost on the pump after you hang up the nozzle, or the fuel price sign at the store. Store prices can also be looked up on Wawa.com.
For an expense claim this works in your favour: the receipt amount is what you actually paid.
Paying at the pump without the app
Every Wawa has card readers in the dispensers, and all pumps take contactless payments such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. Wawa's FAQ ties the Fuel Transaction history to fuel activated and paid through the app. For card payments at the pump, take the printed receipt when the pump offers it.
In-store and mobile orders
Wawa Rewards is free, and Wawa describes it as the place to manage your purchase history along with rewards, mobile orders and gift card balances. To earn points in store, scan the Wawa App, your registered Rewards Key Card or a registered Wawa Gift Card before you pay. Wawa cannot credit points to a transaction after it has been paid.
If you pay for a mobile order in the app, the digital receipt shows that it has been paid. Replacing a lost Rewards Key Card does not erase your purchase history, as long as you update the new card number on WawaRewards.com or in the app.
A fill-up and a coffee, both accounted for
A single Wawa stop often means two receipts: fuel at the pump and food inside. Take a photo of each printed one with the receipt scanner in the Smartbills app and they sit together on that week's expense report. Owners deducting vehicle costs keep a full year of Wawa fuel receipts in one place with tax receipts.
