How to get and pay a SunPass toll invoice

A SunPass toll invoice is the Toll-By-Plate bill Florida mails to a vehicle's registered owner when tolls were not paid with a transponder. To pay it online, go to SunPass.com, choose Toll Invoices, and enter the invoice number and your license plate. You can also pay by phone at 1-888-TOLL-FLA (1-888-865-5352) or mail a check or money order made out to FDOT.
What the invoice covers
Toll-By-Plate photographs the plate at the gantry and bills the registered owner by mail. Florida's Turnpike says an invoice groups the tolls from a period of about 30 days, and each invoice adds a $2.50 administrative charge on top of the tolls. Toll-By-Plate customers are also billed at a higher rate than SunPass transponder customers, which is the main reason frequent drivers switch to a tag.
Invoice lookup and online payment
- Open SunPass.com and select Toll Invoices.
- Type the invoice number printed on the paper bill.
- Add the license plate information for the vehicle.
- Pay with a debit or credit card.
The same screen lets you save the card for future tolls, which turns later trips into card charges instead of new mailed invoices. If you already hold a SunPass account, log in and use Pay Toll Enforcement Invoice in the left-hand menu to settle the bill from inside the account.
Paying by phone or by mail
Call 1-888-TOLL-FLA (1-888-865-5352) to pay over the phone. For mail, Florida's Turnpike lists FDOT/SunPass, P.O. Box 31241, Tampa, Florida 33631-3241, with the check or money order payable to FDOT. The paper invoice carries its own detailed instructions. Check it before you mail anything.
If an invoice goes unpaid
A missed due date triggers a second invoice. If that one also goes unpaid, the tolls and fees can go to a collection agency, which adds its own charges. FDOT can also ask for a registration stop on the plate and may issue a Uniform Traffic Citation to the owner. Paying the first invoice on time is far cheaper than any of those steps.
SunPass invoices kept with your expenses
Toll-By-Plate bills arrive on paper weeks after the drive, which is exactly when they get lost on a desk. Snap the mailed invoice with the receipt scanner as soon as it lands, and once you have a SunPass account, let our AI agent sign in and pull each invoice and payment through bill fetching. Tolls driven for work then drop straight onto an expense report next to the mileage.
