How to get a PRESTO receipt and Transit Usage Report

The closest thing to a PRESTO receipt for a year of fares is the Transit Usage Report. Sign in to your PRESTO account, select the card, choose Transit Usage Report from the menu, pick the year and the type of transactions, and generate it. You can go back up to 7 years and export the report in different formats or print it. The report only exists for registered PRESTO cards.
Transit Usage Report, step by step
- Sign in to your PRESTO account on the website.
- Select the physical PRESTO card.
- Choose Transit Usage Report from the menu.
- Pick the year and the transaction type.
- Generate the report, then export or print it.
Why registration matters
To get either a Transit Usage Report or Transaction History, the card has to be registered to a PRESTO account. An anonymous card leaves you without the record. Register before you need it, not at tax time.
Paying with a credit or debit card instead
Tapping a bank card on a PRESTO reader does not produce a Transit Usage Report. Review Transaction History instead. Add the card to a PRESTO account to see up to 180 days; an unregistered card only shows the last 7 days. For a longer record of contactless fares, your bank or card statement fills the gap past 180 days.
Using the report for tax credits
PRESTO says a Transit Usage Report or Transaction History can serve as the record of your transit spending if you qualify for a transit-related tax credit. Working out which fares, passes or trips qualify is up to you, and the eligibility rules are on the Canada Revenue Agency website. For the Ontario Seniors' Public Transit Tax Credit, PRESTO notes that you review the report yourself to pick out the qualifying trips.
PRESTO fares kept on file
A year of PRESTO taps across TTC, GO and local agencies is a long report to rebuild in April. Connect your PRESTO account and our AI agent signs in and saves the Transit Usage Report and transaction history through bill fetching. Fares can then be sorted for a client rebill on an expense report or set aside with your other tax receipts.
