How to get a Hotels.com receipt

To get a Hotels.com receipt, open the booking's itinerary page and choose Print receipt or Get receipt. For a booking you paid in full on Hotels.com, that receipt is your proof of purchase. If you chose to pay at the property, the hotel gives you the receipt when your stay ends. For a receipt for tax purposes, Hotels.com tells you to contact the travel provider, meaning the hotel.
Getting the receipt from the itinerary
- Sign in to Hotels.com and open Trips, or find the booking with your itinerary number and email address.
- Open the booking's itinerary page.
- Select Print receipt or Get receipt.
The itinerary number is at the top of the confirmation email. Hotels.com can resend it if you cannot find it.
Paid now or paid at the hotel
- Pay now: you paid in full when you booked. The itinerary receipt is the proof of purchase.
- Pay at property: you pay the hotel in full at check-in or checkout, and the hotel hands you its receipt at the end of the stay.
Wi-Fi, minibar and other room charges
Even on a prepaid booking, charges added to the room during the stay are billed by the hotel. Hotels.com says the property gives you a separate receipt for those at checkout. Ask for it before you leave, since the Hotels.com receipt will not list them.
When you need a receipt for tax purposes
The Hotels.com help article is explicit: if you need a receipt for tax purposes, contact your travel provider, such as the hotel. The itinerary receipt shows what you paid Hotels.com. The hotel's folio is the document that itemizes the stay.
Package bookings
For a flight and hotel package, the itinerary receipt shows the total you paid. Your bank or card statement may show separate charges for each part of the package. Keep the receipt with the statement to match the pieces.
Two receipts per Hotels.com stay, both kept
Many Hotels.com stays end with the booking site's receipt in one place and the hotel's folio in another. Connect your Hotels.com account and our AI agent signs in and fetches the itinerary receipt for each trip, through bill fetching. The folio the hotel emails at checkout is filed by email receipt capture, and both sit on the same expense report line.
