What the void cheque shows
On a Desjardins void cheque, the five-digit transit number stands for your caisse, the three-digit institution number for Desjardins, and the last group is your account number. Desjardins' institution number is 815 in Payments Canada's directory of members.
The groups printed along the bottom of a Desjardins cheque are decoded one by one in how to read a void cheque. For a form that asks for a nine-digit routing number, bank routing numbers in Canada shows how 815 and your caisse's transit number make one.
Desjardins void cheques from your suppliers
An AccèsD PDF forwarded by email can be edited before it gets to you, and a swapped account number is enough to divert a payment. Smartbills vendor management has each supplier enter its own banking details on its record, with no attachment to retype. Matching banking details or a matching tax number on a new supplier trigger a likely-duplicate flag, and accounts payable pays from the record.
