Simplii Financial's help pages do not describe a separate void cheque download. What they give is a pre-filled direct deposit form in online banking, or the option to pass your account details on directly.
Get the pre-filled direct deposit form
- Sign on to online banking.
- Go to More Services.
- Select Set up direct deposits from the Moving money section.
- Print and sign the completed form, and give it to your employer or whoever issues the payment.
Or give the numbers directly
Simplii says you can instead provide your account details to the employer or issuer: the transit number, the branch number and the account number. They are on a void cheque, if you have one, or under More Services in online banking. On a Canadian cheque, those appear as a five-digit transit number for the branch, a three-digit institution number for the bank, and then the account number.
When deposits arrive
Simplii says direct deposits to a Simplii account are usually available immediately.
If you do have a Simplii cheque, how to read a void cheque shows which digits along its bottom are which. Some forms ask for a nine-digit routing number, and bank routing numbers in Canada explains how it is made from the institution and transit numbers.
Suppliers who send a direct deposit form
A signed Simplii direct deposit form, scanned and emailed to you, is no harder to alter than any other attachment, and the payment follows the account number on it. Smartbills vendor management skips the attachment: suppliers type their banking details into their own vendor record. A new supplier that matches an existing one on banking details or tax number is flagged as a likely duplicate, and accounts payable pays from that record.
